Aftercare Instructions
Second Skin Bandage
Leave the bandage on for 3-5 days. You can shower as normal, careful NOT to submerge or soak in any body of water. It is normal for plasma, blood, and ink to fill the bandage and create an “ink sack”. If that happens do NOT try to pop it or push any of it out. If the bandage starts to leak or an adhesive rash starts to develop, make sure to take off the bandage immediately and wash it. Remove the bandage in the shower under warm water, rolling down with the skin, so it does not cause irritation. With a clean bare hand, gently wash with Dial Gold non fragrance antibacterial soap 2-3 times a day. Let it air dry then apply a small amount of Aquaphor healing ointment and rub in like lotion, pat off any excess with a clean paper towel. Repeat aftercare instructions for 2-3 weeks or until the skin is no longer scabbing.
Temporary Bandage
Once you get home remove the bandage and wash it immediately. With a clean bare hand, gently wash with Dial Gold non fragrance antibacterial soap 2-3 times a day. Let it air dry then apply a small amount of Aquaphor healing ointment and rub it in like lotion, pat off any excess with a clean paper towel. Wash, dry, moisturize, and rewrap before bed for the first 3-5 days to save your sheets and prevent thick scabbing. Repeat aftercare instructions for 2-3 weeks or until the skin is no longer scabbing.
Itching, scabbing, and peeling is normal during the healing process.
